Vet Varsity organises Road Safety Awareness Programme

LUDHIANA: In order to bring awareness on road safety among the youngsters, the NSS wing of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) organised a Road Safety Awareness Programme. Drawn on the on-going National Road Safety Month-2024, the awareness programme provided a much needed guidance on traffic rules and regulations to the youngsters. The event was organised under the guidelines of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

Mr. Charanjiv Lamba, PPS, ACP-1 Traffic was the Chief Guest of the programme on Road safety and motivated the young minds to follow traffic rules. Mr. Jasvir Singh, Incharge Education Cell, Traffic Police Ludhiana urged the students to invest on a good quality ISI mark helmet instead of spending on other things.

Mr. Naval Kishore Kaura, President, NGO Safe Drive Stay Alive was the Keynote speaker of the session shared audio visual clippings in a PowerPoint presentation emphasising on the prevention of road accidents by obeying the road safety rules and regulations.

Dr. JPS Gill, Director Students’ Welfare, while delivering the vote of thanks applauded the efforts of the traffic police Ludhiana, ACP Mr. Charanjiv Lamba, Dr. Saurabh Sharma, Department of Neurosurgery, DMCH, Ludhiana, Mr. Naval Kishore Kaura for spreading awareness in the field of road safety.

Dr. Nidhi Sharma, Assistant Director Publication and NSS Programme Coordinator of the university conducted the session and asserted that such events stresses on the importance of road safety as it helps reduce the number of injuries and fatalities on the road.

Dr. Sivakumar , Dr. Vishal Sharma and Dr. S S Hassan, NSS college coordinators, informed that a total of 200 students from in campus colleges participated in the event with great enthusiasm.
