Verse recitation program organised at DBU

MANDI GOBINDGARH: The Department of Ayurveda, Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh organised Shalok/Verse recitation program.

In this program the students recited shaloks from Ashtang Hridayam, the seminal Buddhist and Ayurveda text. Dr. Kulbhushan, Director and Principal, Ayurveda College welcomed Dr. Abhijit. H. Joshi, Vice-Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University as the chief guest of the event.

Dr. Abhijit H. Joshi, Vice-Chancellor of the University, congratulated the department for organizing the event.

Dr. Joshi, speaking on the occasion, said that Desh Bhagat University is the first private University in Northern India who recited shaloks from Ashtang Hridayam. Dr. Joshi himself recited the shaloks to the students and explained their essence and significance.

He told that the book 'Ashtang Hriday' was written by Vagbhata. He was the disciple of Maharshi Charak. He was a Buddhist. This book refers to the eight sections of Ayurveda. The Ashtanga Hridayam, the “Heart or Essence of all the Eight Branches of Ayurveda, ” is one of the primary ancient root texts of Ayurveda. Today, the Ashtanga Hridayam continues to serve as a root source for Ayurvedic philosophy and protocol, providing clear guidelines in all aspects of health.

Dr. Kulhushan said that more than 200 students from Ayurveda department and other departments participated in the shalok recitation event. He thanked the chief guest and the students for being a part of this event and making it a memorable occasion.
