Tree plantation drive at KCET

AMRITSAR:A fruits-tree plantation drive was held at Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology (KCET), here today in which 100 plants of various varieties were planted. KCET Director-Principal Dr. Manju Bala said the College in collaboration with the Income Tax Department made efforts to make the campus eco-friendly and greener. Chief Guest on the occasion Rohit Mehra, Additional Income Tax Commissioner who is popularly known as “Green Man”, famous for establishing more than 1000 micro forests and planting more than 9 Lac trees, appreciated the efforts of the College.

He said Earth’s bio-diverse ecosystem is misbalanced and affecting the health of all human beings. So it’s time we pay heed to our surroundings and work to build a better planet and it is very important for each individual to plant at least one tree in his lifetime. Dr. Bala earlier said that it’s no wonder that trees represent life, growth, beauty and peace. Trees exhale for us so that we can inhale them to stay alive, she said.

The saplings planted included Kinnow, Jamun, Anjeer, Lemon, Mango, Pear and Guava Dr. Mohinder Sangita, Dean, Academics, Dr. Ripin Kohli Dean, Research and Consultancy, Er. Bikramjit Singh, Registrar, Er Karanbir Singh, Estate Officer, Mr. P. Prasant, Deputy Dean, Industry and Academia, Er. Gurcharan Singh, Deputy Dean, Student Welfare, Sahil Arora, HOD, HMCT, Parneet Kaur and other faculty members were present.
