Khalsa College First in Punjab to Get ICAR Recognition for B.Sc. Agriculture

AMRITSAR: The historic Khalsa College Amritsar (KCA), an autonomous educational institution, has become the first College in Punjab to get the prestigious Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) recognition for B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Agriculture. The high level team from ICAR, New Delhi had conducted the rigorous inspections recently following which the accreditation had been granted.

The College that has been awarded the A+ accreditation by the University Grants Commission (UGC) already has got the recognition for 5 years, said Principal Dr. Mehal Singh. He said the KCA is the first College in Punjab to get such recognition regarding the degree of agriculture. He said that with this recognition, the value and importance of the B.Sc.(Agriculture) has further increased to be at par with the national and international standards.

The ICAR examined a total eight main criteria regarding the infrastructure, labs, faculty and teaching practices in which the College was found to be meeting all set standards. The department received commendable comments, adjectives before the final report for the accreditation was submitted. The accreditation will be in force till February 2029.

Dr. Mehal Singh thanked the entire management, especially Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) President Satyajit Singh Majithia and honorary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina for granting all facilities, amenities and leadership guidance apart from necessary faculty and equipment. Meanwhile Majithia and Chhina congratulated Principal, Head of Department Dr.Randeep Bal and faculty members for the honour.
