Kala Utsav at Chitkara International School

CHANDIGARH: The second phase of Kala Utsav 2023 began with great heartiness and enthusiasm at its scheduled venue at Chitkara International School, Sector 25, Chandigarh. The cultural bonanza is set to spread its colours for six days continuously till 5th December, 2023 with a series of competitions in the categories of dance, drama and music.

The first phase of Kala Utsav was celebrated at GGMSSS-18, Chandigarh with competitions in Visual Arts 2D, 3D and Indigenous toys and games. The winners in all the three categories mentioned will further be participating at the National Level Kala Utsav to be held in New Delhi.

The event commenced with dance performances in the category of Folk Dances. Participants staged mesmerising performances covering a range of folk dances of different states of India.

Kala Utsav is organized every year for the school students which provide them a vibrant platform for exhibiting their creative talent and giving them an opportunity to understand and celebrate cultural differences at School, Cluster, State and National level.

A total 5044 number of students, including the Divyang students, participated at the Cluster level out of which 395 students were selected for this State level competition giving them an opportunity to bring out their innate talent.

The inauguration of today's event was done by Education Secretary, Madam Hargunjeet Kaur accompanied by Ms. Neena Kalia, Dy Director III, School Education and Mrs. Prabhjot Kaur , Dy Director IV along with Ms. Bindu Arora, District Education Officer, Ms. Poonam Sood and Mr Rajan Jain, Dy DEO I & II, Ms. Manjit Kaur, Mission Coordinator, Ms. Rajni Mahajan, Pedagogy Coordinator and Director - Chitkara International School, Ms. Niyati Chitkara and Principal and Nodal Officer GMSSS-21, Ms. Sukhpal Kaur.

ressed in colourful costumes, fascinating props and beautiful dance movements, a total 43 students participated in male & female category with 16 males and 27 females.

The competition was adjudged by Dr Samira Koser, Dr Satwinder Virk and Sr. Balkaar Singh Sidhu from the prestigious colleges and institutes of Chandigarh. The Judges evaluated the dance performances by the students as per the guidelines specified by MoE/NCERT and gave their decision.
