AMRITSAR: Under the state-wide anti-drug initiative, Yudh Nashian Virudh, an inter-college cultural festival titled “Junoon-e-Punjab” was organised at Guru Nanak Dev University to spread awareness against substance abuse and mobilise youth participation.

Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora attended the inaugural function as the chief guest and urged students to play an active role in eliminating drugs from society. Addressing the gathering, he said Punjab stood at a crucial juncture and that the contribution of young people was vital in ensuring the success of the anti-drug campaign.

“Punjabis have always faced challenges with resilience. With determination and collective effort, the youth can overcome this menace as well, ” he remarked.

The event was organised with the support of the Government of Punjab as part of its broader strategy to curb both the supply and demand of narcotics through enforcement and social awareness.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh emphasised that educational institutions must take the lead in sensitising students and communities. He noted that history bore testimony to Punjab’s courage in combating adversity and called upon students to become ambassadors of a drug-free society.
