Guru Granth Sahib’s 417th `Parkash Purab’ Celebrated at Khalsa College

AMRITSAR:The 417th `Parkash Purab’, the first installation of Guru Granth Sahib at Golden Temple, was today celebrated with religious fervor and devotion at historic Khalsa College campus. During the occasion the message of humanity, peace and universal brotherhood as enshrined in the holy scripture, was highlighted.

Kirtan (recitals of hymns) was organized at the Gurdwara complex where the management members, principals, teachers, staff members and students took part in large number. The students from Khalsa College Public School (KCPS) performed the Kirtan.

Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina said in his messages said that Guru Granth Sahib’s philosophy is most relevant today when the world is divided on caste, creed and nationality basis. He said in the trouble-torn, highly stressed times, the humanity is taking the back seat and the holy Granth is the light the whole humanity look forward to for guidance.

We all need to imbibe the teaching of the Granth Sahib on peaceful co-existence and the welfare of the mankind”, said he adding that he was happy that teachers and students were taking part in the religious programs with dedication. Dr. Inderjit Singh Gagoani narrated the historical aspects relating the compilation of the Granth which incorporates the Bani (Hymns) from Gurus and Saints from across the religion, communities and region.

Chhina along with Principal Dr. Mehal Singh bestowed the Siropa to the students performing Kirtan. KCGC members including Ajmer Singh Heir, Prinicipal Jagdish Singh Gurpreet Singh Gill, PS Bal, Sarabjeet Singh, Principals including Dr.Surinder Kaur, SPK Dhillon, Dr. Nagpal, Dr.RK Dhawan, Dr. Jaspal Singh, Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Dr. HB Singh, Dr. Kamaljit Kaur, AS Gill, Puneet Nagpal, Nirmaljit Kaur were present.
