GNDU is the only multi-specialty State University of Northern Region (Jammu, Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh) to attain these outstanding achievements. Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Jaspal Singh Sandhu congratulated the faculty, staff, research scholars, and the students for taking the university to high peaks worldwide. He said that high quality academics, highly cited research, and high employability of all the programmes of the university have brought laurels to the university.

Upslacing the H-index from 64 to 145 with top 10 percent highly cited papers in Scopus is a remarkable achievement of the university, he added. Its NIRF ranking at 48th position makes GNDU a part of the elete club of high quality higher educational institutions in the country. NAAC has accredited GNDU with CGPA of 3.85 on 4 point scale at "A++" grade (highest level) and UGC has conferred it with "University with Potential for Excellence " status. The University's unmatching achievements in sports and cultural events are visible at the national and international erena, which makes GNDU very popular across the geographies.
