GNDU Penned MoU with KSS-ISPER For Collaborative Research, Training, and Outreach Activities

AMRITSAR: The Guru Ramdas School of Planning of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar (GRDSP) signed a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Kanwar Surjit Singh Institute for Spatial Planning and Environment Research, Panchkula, Haryana (KSS-ISPER) to share knowledge, and conduct need based collaborative research, capacity building training, and outreach activities to address various issues and challenges occurring in the built environment of cities and villages.

Based on mutual need, both Institutions shall explore ways of collaborating joint research, workshops, seminars, conferences, and training programmes in the field of sustainable and liveable habitat in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

The syndicate of the university has also approved the request of KSS-ISPER to institute a Gold Medal in the memory of late Kanwar Surjit Singh who happens to the alumnus of the university and Chief Town Planner of HSIIDC, Panchkula, Haryana. The medal will be awarded to the topper of Master of Planning (Transport) programme of the GRDSP. GRDSP and KSS-ISPER also got into an agreement to partner in the establishment of Centre of Excellence (Urban Planning and Design), which will be sponsored by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Govt. of India, New Delhi.

Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor has congratulated both the institutes and expressed his gratitude to work together for the cause of quality living in the human settlements. He expressed faith and belief that the MoU will benefit in the faculty, researchers and the students of the University by bringing new knowledge, technology and opportunities in sustainability concerns of built habitat. Prof. S.S. Behl, Dean Academic Affairs, Mr. Jaswant Singh, Secretary General, KSS-ISPER, Mrs. Harjinder Kaur, W/o late Kanwar Surjit Singh, Prof. Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi, and Prof. Ashwani Luthra were present on this occasion.
