AMRITSAR: The Guru Nanak Dev University Cultural Team has secured the 2nd Runners up Position at the 37th North Zone Inter University Youth Festival 2023-24. The festival, organized by Punjabi University Patiala from January 31 to February 04, 2024, under the banner of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), witnessed a spirited display of talent and creativity from 18 participating universities. In an outstanding display of artistic prowess, GNDU won the 3rd position overall, showcasing the depth of talent within the university. The contingent, comprised of 54 individuals, actively participated in 26 events, leaving an indelible mark on the cultural landscape of the festival.
Dr Amandeep Singh, Incharge Director Youth Welfare Department said that In the overall standings, Lovely Professional University secured the 1st position, followed by CU Gharuan at 2nd, GNDU Amritsar at 3rd, Punjabi University Patiala at 4th, and Panjab University Chandigarh at 5th. He said that GNDU secured the Champion position in Music Items and achieved 1st Runners up in Dance Items. In event-wise standings, GNDU excelled, securing 1st position in Classical Instrumental (Non Percussion) and Western Group Song, 2nd position in Classical Instrumental (Percussion), Western Vocal Solo, Classical Dance, Skit, Mimicry, and Rangoli. Additionally, GNDU attained 3rd position in Classical Vocal Solo and Light Vocal Indian, and 3rd position across Group Song Indian, Western Instrumental Solo, Folk Dance, Quiz, Collage. Furthermore, GNDU secured 4th position in On the Spot Painting, Clay Modelling, and Installation, while achieving 5th position in One Act Play, Mime, and Poster Making.
