AMRITSAR: UGC-Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), Guru Nanak Dev University, organized a webinar on “Ethics of Research and Publications” for faculty and research scholars on 18th Feb. 2022.
The event was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu and Prof. (Dr.) Nalin Mehta, Director, North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences, Shillong was the invited speaker. Prof. Mehta, an acclaimed name in Medical Sciences, deliberated on the ethical issues to be considered in research. He emphasized that the students should go for extensive literature review and make the best possible use of the library. Ethical conduct involves knowing one's rights as well as responsibilities in taking care to do the right things. He explicitly highlighted that research conducted while ignoring the established ethical norms is not only acknowledged poorly but also may land a researcher into several legal or professional issues
Prof. Sandhu shared that GNDU was spending about 3 crore rupees annually on mobilizing library resources for its students and faculty and urged the research scholars to make the best possible use of library facilities and paid online databases available through the university intranet. Director, HRDC, Prof. Sudha Jitender welcomed the dignitaries and participants and invited everyone to visit the state of the art infrastructure available at HRDC, GNDU. The webinar was coordinated by Dr SS Doel, Head Department of Political Science and attended by about seventy participants.
