MANDI GOBINDGARH: The District administration of Fatehgarh Sahib in collaboration with the Excise and Taxation department organized an awareness program at Desh Bhagat University on “Bill Leyao Inaam Pao”.
Dr Milandeep Kaur, Assistant Professor welcomed Dr Zora Singh, Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University, and Dr Tajinder Kaur, Pro Chancellor, as the guests of honour. Dr Surjeet Patheja, Director, Media, welcomed GS Johal, SDM, Amloh as the Chief Guest and Jeetpal Kaur, Assistant Commissioner, Excise and Taxation, as special guest.
Dr Surjeet Patheja said the aim of the event was to inform people about the special app launched by the Punjab government under which a scheme had been started, where people can upload their bill and can get a gift from the government.
Dr Zora Singh congratulated the Excise and Taxation department for the initiative. He said the motive of the scheme was to formalize financial transactions, educate the customer and mop up GST (goods and service tax). He said that the government has also given rewards on the basis of a draw; and monthly prizes will be given to people/customers, who would submit their bills with the Taxation Department.
GS Johal, SDM, Amloh congratulated the Department for organizing such an informative programme. Jeetpal Kaur, Assistant Commissioner said that anybody who purchased anything, gets a bill from the shopkeeper and uploads that bill registered at the government portal; and if the bill is found genuine, then that customer stands a chance to receive a reward.
Dr Prabhjot Singh, Assistant Professor, said that more than 3000 students had participated in the awareness programme and downloaded the app.
