1500 Students Awarded Degrees during Khalsa College’s 118th Convocation

AMRITSAR: At least 1500 students were today awarded degrees during the 118th Annual Convocation of Khalsa College Amritsar (KCA). The students from 49 different streams of studies in graduate and post-graduate classes were bestowed the degrees and many meritorious students were honoured with medals and certificates at an impressive academic function.

In his convocation address, Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) President Satyajit Singh Majithia said there was no short cut to success and only hard work is the key to success in life. He coaxed students to work harder in order to achieve their goals and stressed how the teachers as guides play a significant role in their lives.

“The teachers’ job is not just to teach in the classes but also to encourage the students and boost their morals”, said he while congratulating the degree holders for their success. He quoted extensively from Gurbani and advised students to set aims in life high and work hard to achieve those aims.

KCGC honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina who presided over the function also motivated the students and advised the degree holders to follow their dreams, take risks, learn from failures and believe in themselves and their vision and achieve big in life.

Principal Dr. Mehal Singh while expressing his deep gratitude towards the chief guest and other dignitaries, read the College progress report, highlighting the achievements in academic, sports and cultural activities. He also said that the College was proud to have been awarded A-Plus status by the NAAC and ICAR accreditation to B.Sc. Agriculture degree.

While addressing students, he stressed upon the fact that hard work and persistent efforts are necessary to reap fruits of success, besides, highlighting the achievements of the college in academic and placement fronts. Dr Taminder Singh, Vice Principal of the College and Prof. Devinder Singh, College Registrar along with Heads of various departments were present.
The students who were awarded degrees included students from streams like MSc (Physics, Maths, and Computer Science, Fashion Designing, Chemistry, Agriculture , Botany , Zoology, Biotech , Food Science, (H) Chemistry , (H) Physics , MA (Political Science, Punjabi , English, Economics, Fine Arts , History, Music, MAJMC, Hindi) and M.Com students. Among the graduates, degrees were awarded to students of BSc. (Medical, Non-Medical, Economics, IT, Computer Science, Biotechnology , Fashion Designing , (H) Chemistry , (H) Physics), (H) Maths, BBA, BCom, BComHons, BCA, BJMC, BPT & BA Social Science, BA English , BA , BVoc Software Development , BVoc Textile Designing, BVoc Theatre , BVoc Food Processing for regular classes.

Joint Secretaries including Ajmer Singh Heir, Paramjit Singh Bal, Rajbir Singh, Gurpreet Singh Gill and Principals from various other Khalsa institutions, teaching and non-teaching faculty members of the college also attended the function.
