SHAHKOT (JALANDHAR): Senior Congress leader and former minister Rana Gurjeet Singh today said that the people of Shahkot area will soon feel the difference by choosing a Congress candidate for the Vidhan Sabha.

He said, the area will see the development it has never seen before particularly during the last 20 years when it continuously chose the Akali candidate.

Accompanied by senior party leaders and legislators including Harminder Gill, Pritam Singh Kotbhai, Devinder Singh Gubaya and Dalvir Goldy, Rana Gurjeet addressed a series of well attended public meetings in about a dozen villages while campaigning for the party candidate for the bye-election, Hardev Singh Ladi Sherowalia.

Rana told the villagers that Congress government under the Chief Ministership of Capt Amarinder Singh was scripting a new era of progress and development. “We have waived off the loans of farmers which no one else did”, he said while urging people to question the Akali leaders, if they come to ask for their votes, as why they could not waive off their loans despite claiming themselves to be the well wishers of the farmers.

The Congress leader maintained that the victory of the Congress party from Shahkot will complete the two-third majority figure in the Vidhan Sabha which will enable the government to frame rules in public interest easily and without any difficulty.

The party leader cautioned the people against voting for the Aam Aadmi Party telling them that voting for AAP will mean voting for the Akalis. “Beware lest you end up helping the same Akalis, you otherwise want to get rid of”, Rana cautioned people.

Others who addressed the meetings included Harminder Gill, Dalvir Goldy, Pritam Singh Kotbhai, Devinder Singh Gubaya and others.
