PHAGWARA: Panic swept through Phagwara’s Hadiabad locality late Wednesday night after a young man was shot dead following what witnesses described as a brief and trivial argument. The incident comes barely a week after a separate firing at the residence of AAP leader Daljit Raju in nearby village Darvesh, intensifying public fear over escalating gun violence in the region.

GURDASPUR: In yet another major breakthrough in Gurdaspur Grenade Attack Case amidst the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state as per directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Counter Intelligence (CI) Bathinda, in coordination with Gurdaspur Police, has apprehended one more key accused involved in the attack, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Wednesday. 

LUDHIANA: A day after two guests, including a woman, were killed in a gang war at a wedding at Bath Castle marriage palace here, police on Monday have arrested Ankur, kingpin of one of the gangs directly involved in opening fire.

PHAGWARA: In a key development in the probe into the firing on AAP leader Daljit Raju’s house on the midnight of November 27 in village Darvesh near Phagwara, gangster Virender Pratap Singh alias Kala Rana was brought to Phagwara from Gurugram’s Bhondsi Jail on a production warrant on Tuesday and produced before Judicial Magistrate . The court granted the police two-day remand of the gangster for further interrogation into the alleged conspiracy behind the attack. 

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its drive against corruption in the state, nabbed Mohammad Iqbal, Rent Collector posted at Punjab Wakf Board Zira, district Ferozepur red handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs. 3,00,000/- as second installment.

CHANDIGARH: A gangster identified as Inderpreet Singh alias Parry was shot dead in sector 26 here Monday morning. He was linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi group and was gunned down in a planned attack near the busy Timber Market stretch. 

BATHINDA:  A hotel on Goniana Road was rocked last night when police from the Kotwali police station raided it. Busting the alleged illegal business being run under the guise of a kitty party, the police arrested nine people, including the hotel owner. Some young men were detained, while the women present were released with a warning. 

PHAGWARA: Panic spread on the Phagwara–Jalandhar GT Road on Sunday when a moving car suddenly caught fire on the flyover, turning into a ball of flames within minutes. The vehicle was completely gutted before the fire brigade could bring the blaze under control.

PHAGWARA: In a swift breakthrough, Phagwara Police led by SP Madhvi Sharma have arrested three persons—Ghanshyam Tiwari, his mother Neeraj Kumari, and brother Deepak Tiwari—for allegedly sheltering and financing the main assailants involved in the late-night firing on the residence of AAP leader and Yudh Nasheyan De Virudh coordinator Daljit Raju.
