CHANDIGARH:Rejecting the decision of Chief Minister Raja Amarinder Singh to handover the investigation of scholarship scam to the Chief Secretary, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab demanded the investigation to be carried out by CBI junder the supervision of the Hon'ble High Court judge.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters, Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Amarinder Singh government has been trying to save its corrupt minister and the process of getting a clean chit from the Chief Secretary has started. This is a double deception with Punjab, especially with several Dalit students whose bright future has been scuttled by this corrupt gang in conjunction with education mafia.
Raising a question over the decision, Harpal Singh Cheema said that how can a chief secretary conduct unbiased investigation against a sitting cabinet minister? Terming it a futile exercise aimed at diverting the attention of the public, Aam Aadmi Party categorically rejects it.
Harpal Singh Cheema said that if the Chief Minister does not trust the detailed investigation done by one of his Additional Chief Secretaries with documentary evidence, then the investigation of this scam should have been handed over to the CBI or any central agency under the supervision of sitting judge of the Hon'ble High Court. But due to the reasons best known to him, instead of sending Sadhu Singh Dharamsot to jail, the Chief Minister wants to retain Sadhu Singh Dharmasot in his cabinet despite of the fact that many senior congress leaders are demanding to sack the corrupt minister. ctually the matter is directly related to the Dalit class and the attitude of the Raja-Maharajas towards the poor, Dalits and common people has been negative for centuries.
Harpal Singh Cheema has also demanded that the scope of investigation of scam in this post matric scholarship scheme of the Center for Dalit students should be extended to the year 2012-13 because more than 1200 crores in this scheme have been embezzeled during the regime of previous Akali BJP government, which have been suppressed by this corrupt gang with high-level collusion.
Taking a dig at Chief Minister Amarinder Singh for calling the Aam Aadmi Party a rouge party', Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Aam Aadmi Party will go to any extent to protect the interests of the people of Punjab as well as the country and Aam Aadmi Party which is a result of mass movement against the corrupt system, does not need any certificate from a mendacious king like Amarinder Singh.
