PHAGWARA: Hundreds of patients visiting govt hospitals in the district kapurthala had to face much inconvenience as All doctors belonging to Punjab Civil Medical Services Association( PCMSA) led by district president Dr. Amanjot Kaur Distt today went on strike by boycotting all services except emergency services at Civil Hospital KPT, Phagwara and Bholath as protest against misbehaviour done by relatives of a patient with Dr. Manjeet Nagra (Gynaecologist) at Civil Hospital Phagwara on April 26.
In Phagwara: al Staff members of Civil Hospital Phagwara led by Dr. Kirandeep Kaur President PCMSA Phagwara staged dharna at Civil Hospital Phagwara.
The Protesters said that on a patient named one Kirti W/o Gurwinder Singh R/o Thana Mohalla Lehragaga Distt Sangrur was admitted in Civil Hospital Phagwara for normal delivery case. The relatives of patient Kirti misbehaved with Dr. Manjeet Nagra, Medical Officer ( Gyane) and created obstruction in duty by obscene gestures, professional assasination and criminal deamination.
They were demanding to take legal action against relatives of patient Kirti.The protesting doctors threatened to continue their strike till registration of the case against the culprits responsible for misbehaving the govt doctor in civil hospital phagwara.Similar strikes were observed in all other civil hospitals of the district Kapurthala.
Later the strikes and dharnas in the entire district kapurthala were lifted only with the intervention of Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala Amit Kumar Panchal and SDM Phagwara Jashanjit Singh when the Police while acting on the written complaint lodged by the concerned Dr Manjit Nagra have registered a case under section 353, 186, 506, 341, 149 IPC, 3, 4 Punjab Protection of Medicare Service Persons and Medicare Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property) Bill 2008 against more than two dozen unknown persons including four identified as Loveleen Sharma, Gurwinder Singh RO Lehragaga(Sangrur), Lalit Madan and mother of the patient Kirti this afternoon.Thus normalcy returned after several hours.
