USA (Pool B) and Argentina (Pool A) women qualify for semis

SANTIAGO (CHILE): Erin Matson and Danielle Grega gave superlative display by scoring six and four goals, respectively, as United States of America posted an impressive 20-0 triumph against Peru in the women's Pool B of the Pan American Cup Hockey here today.
Lauren Moyer (3), Hope Rose (2), Elizabeth Yeager (2), Sofia Southam (1) and Amanda Magadan (1) also made significant contributions.
USA completed their four-team pool programme with an-all win record and emerged group leaders with nine full points. In three league encounters, USA women pumped in 39 goals and conceded one goal to Canada. USA's goaL-difference is 38.
Canada finished pool B as runners-up with two wins and one defeat. In their last Pool B group fixture, Canada outclassed Trinidad and Tobago with a big margin of 13-0. Canada scored 28 goals in their league fixtures and conceded three goals (goal difference of 25). With six points they occupied second position.
Trinidad and Tobago got third position with three points from one win and two losses. Peru were at the bottom without a point.
USA virtually fought the battle in Peru's territory. They converted three penalty corners and one penalty stroke.The Peru women were bereft of the ideas and the onslaught of USA continued throughout the match.
Lauren Moyer opened the floodgate by converting USA's first penalty corner in the sixth minute. Madeleine Zimmer made it 2-0 by converting the second penalty corner USA earned.
Erin Matson emerged the star performer by scoring in the 27th, 30th, 42nd, 46th, 50th, 59th minutes. Danielle Grega sent the ball over the goalline in the 26th, 33rd, 52nd and 56th minutes.
Lauren Moyer's three goals came iin the 6th, 29th and 51st minutes. Hope Rose struck in the 26th and 38th minutes. Elizabeth Yeager got her name in the score book with goals in the 36th and 56th minutes. Madeleine Zimmer (13th), Sofia Southam (38th) and Amanda Magadan (43rd) contributed one goal each.
Peru's Gretell Mejia got a green card in the 56th minute.
CANADA ROUT TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO 13-0
Canada established a commanding 3-0 lead at the end of the first quarter against Trinidad and Tobago. They increased the margin to 9-0 at the conclusion of the second quarter. At the end of the third quarter. Canada were sitting on top with a lead of 11-0. Completed their match with a 13-0 whitewash.
Madison Thompson (7th, 11th, 39th) and Thora Rae (18th, 20th, 60th) made the lion's contribution by scoring three goals each. Elise Wong (6th), Karli Johansen (17th), Madeline Secco (24th), Natalie Sourisseau (26th), Brienne Stairs (30th), Sara McManus (34th) and Anna Mollenhauer (55th). got one goal apiece as Canada completed Trinidad and Togago's rout.
Argentina had finished Pool A leaders. In the three-team pool, Argentina won all their two matches and collected six full points.
CHILE BLANK URUGUAY 4-0
In a pool A match played today, Chile defeated Uruguay by 4-0 and obtained second position behind leaders Argentina. With one win and one loss Chile secured three points.
Maria Maldonado (2nd), Camila Caram (5th), Fernanda Arrieta (12th) and Fernanda Flores (62nd) got one goal each.
On January 25, Pool B runners-up Canada will meet Pool A third placed Uruguay and Pool B runners-up Chile face Pool B third placed Trinidad and Tobago in the cross over matches.
