CHANDIGARH: Spirited Sumit Nagal of India ended challenge of 171th ranked UAE born Thomas Fabbiano of Italy by 7-6 (1), 6-3 in the final qualifying round of the €1, 702, 800 ATP 500 Barcelona Banc Sabadell in Spain on Sunday.
Qualifier Sumit has been drawn to meet 70th ranked Plerre-Hugues Herbert of France in the first round of the main draw.
Sumit, hailing from Jhajjar (Haryana), ranked 135th, took one hour and 50 minutes to prevail over 171th Thomas on the way to entering the main draw.
Sumit Nagal dominated as he earned 70 per cent (37/53) points on first serve and 38 per cent points on second serve (6/16). Thomas won 47 per cent points (24/51) on first serve and 57 per cent (13/23) points on second serve.
Thomas Fabbiiano did well in saving 67 percent breakpoints (8/12) in comparison to Sumit's 40 percent (2/9). The Italian converted three of five breakpoints. Sumit converted 4 of 12 points.
