Sanju Samson was born on November 11, 1994 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. His family originally comes from Vijhinjam. Sanju Vishwanath Samson is the full name of his full name, and he primarily practices Christianity. He lives with four other family members. The parents of Sanju are Samson Vishwanath, who is his oldest brother, and Lizzie Vishwanath, who is his youngest sister. Both of his parents are government employees. After graduating from Rosary Senior Secondary School in Delhi, Sanju joined the government. His cricket career began at the Thiruvananthapuram Cricket Academy after he completed his BA degree from Trivandrum Mar Ivanios college.

As well as playing international cricket for India, he also plays for Kerala in domestic cricket. In the IPL, he captains the Rajasthan Royals. During the 2014 U19 World Cup, Sanju served as the Indian team's vice captain. When he amassed 212 for Kerala vs Goa in the 2019-2020 edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he was the first wicketkeeper batsman to score a century. In Kerala, he is considered the next big thing. With both the bat and behind the stumps, Sanju Samson is a fine wicket-keeper batsman. When he was 17, he played his first first-class match against Vidarbha for Kerala. 

In his first five games, he scored two hundreds and a fifty. His contract with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) expired in 2012, so he never got to play. Samson made a name for himself while playing for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.

As the season progressed, the Kerala batsman became the first to surpass 300 runs. A dip in performance next season led to his signing by Delhi, where he scored more than 650 runs in two seasons before returning to Rajasthan. The franchise spent Rs 800 million to put him up for auction and kept him ahead of the Dream11 IPL 2020 season. When Rajasthan finished the bottom of the league that season, the 26-year-old recorded 375 runs in 14 games.
