Pargat Singh calls upon youths to always be optimistic in life,inaugurates community radio at GNA

PHAGWARA:Sports and Education Minister Pargat Singh today called upon youngsters to always be optimistic to achieve success in their lives while assuring best possible help from the state government to bring about the best career and education opportunity for them.

The Minister was speaking at the GNA University on the occasion of launching their community radio station - GNA Radio 90.0 where he revealed that the state government was working hard to transform the education system into a skill oriented affair so that a large number of youths get better employment opportunities in the state. He also stressed that it was the need of the hour to transform education and sports sectors by triggering major reforms which would ultimately transform the destiny of our youths.

Pointing out further, Mr. Pargat Singh said that the government is working on a knowledge sharing pattern by bringing all experts including government and private educational institutions on a single platform with a common motto to make education fine-tune with contemporary times. He also added that special expert committees were being formed at both the education and sports departments with top educationist, industrialists on its panel to make the education system an instrument in shaping the future of youngsters.

Sharing his personal story of struggle and hardworking as a sportsman, the Minister also exhorted students to follow the path of struggle over an easy one as it would make them strong and confident in their lives. He said that the educational institutions bear a major responsibility of character building of children which finally translates into nation building.

Meanwhile, the Minister launched the FM Radio of GNA University namely GNA Community Radio- GNA Radio 90.0 ‘Duniya Badal Denge’ besides expressing hopes this community radio would go a long way in educating people with its unique and innovative ideas. He also recorded a live inaugural speech at the studio of the radio station situated at university campus.

Throwing a light on the project, Pro-Chancellor Gurdeep Singh Sihra said that GNA Radio 90.0 will be a non-commercial radio setup aimed at benefiting the local residents within a 20 km radius. The people living in the vicinity can listen to the GNA Radio 90.0 ‘Duniya Badal Denge’ at a frequency of 90.0 fm on the University webpage adding that he said that the objective behind the GNA Community Radio is to impart the necessary life skills, the apt education & hands on training making the targeted audience self-reliant & self- sufficient. The Community Radio will focus on Naturopathy, Ayurveda, career counselling sessions for grade 12 th pass outs, personality development sessions, ample of motivational lectures, unleashing of hobbies, thus making these all the attached self-sufficient for a happier life ahead.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. VK Rattan, Faculty dean Dr. Disha Khanna, Dr. Monika Hanspal and other dignitaries welcomed the guest and presented him a souvenir of the university as a token of love.
