Swimming is an individual or team racing sport that requires the use of one's entire body to move through the water. Competitive swimming is one of the most popular Olympic sports, with varied distance events in butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and individual medley. In addition to these individual events, four swimmers can take part in either a freestyle or medley relay. A medley relay consists of four swimmers who will each swim a different stroke, ordered as backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and freestyle.
The Swimming tournament will take place from Wednesday 18 to Friday 20 August 2021 at Bellahoj Aqua Arena in Copenhagen. The competition will be held in four different individual disciplines. The tournament will feature the following disciplines: freestyle: 50, 100, 200, 400, 800, and 1500 meters; breast-stroke: 50, 100, and 200 meters, backstroke: 50, 100, and 200 meters, butterfly: 50, 100, and 200 meters; individual medley: 200 and 400 meters. Also, participants can compete in a relay as well. The disciplines in the relay are freestyle: 4×50, 4×100, and 4×200 and Medley: 4×50 and 4×100. The Swimming tournament will be judged according to the FINA rules.
