Eastern Railway clinches victory in the 67th All India Railway Cricket Championship

PATIALA: 67th All India Railway Cricket Championship for men, held during the 2023-24 season, commenced with knockout matches at the PLW Cricket Stadium, under the auspices of Patiala Locomotive Works (PLW) on 16.4.2024. The final match of the tournament was contested between Eastern Railway and South Western Railway.

Eastern Railway vs. South Western Railway:

Eastern Railway posted a formidable total of 247 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 39.5 overs, with Deepanshu and Ravi Singh emerging as the top scorers with 76 runs off 75 balls and 51 runs off 37 balls respectively. Ruthvik Naik and Sanjay Kumar of South Western Railway claimed three wickets each. In response, South Western Railway fell short, managing only 166 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 30.3 overs, resulting in a loss. Suraj and Kush were the leading run-scorers for South Western Railway, scoring 71 runs off 70 balls and 44 runs off 48 balls respectively. Eastern Railway secured victory by 81 runs.

During the closing ceremony, Shri Pramod Kumar, PCAO, graced the event as the Chief Guest, accompanied by senior officers of PLW. Trophies and certificates were awarded to the winning team, Eastern Railway, and the runner-up team, South Western Railway, at the PLW Cricket Stadium. Northern Railway claimed the third position. PCAO extended gratitude to all departments and volunteers involved and encouraged the teams to strive for excellence in the future.
