TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO: After posting the highest ever total so far by scoring 405 for 5, India bunded out minnows Uganda for 79 in 19.4 overs to romp home an impressive 324-run victory in the ICC World Cup Under-19 at the Brian Lara Stadium here today.
Batting first India opened with Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Harnoor Singh (15) and lost Harnoor at 40 in 7.3 overs. With the addition of 45 runs for the second wicket stand, Nishant Sindu also departed after contributing 15 runs.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi found an able partner in left hander Rajangad Bawa. The left and right hand combination punished all the Ugandan bowlers as they posted their authoritative centuries.
They built a monumental 206-run association for the third wicket. They took their total to 291 for 3 in 37.5 overs from 85 for 2 in 15.1 overs.This fruitful partnership was broken when Angkrish Raghuvanshi was caught by Kakuru off the bowling of Yunusu Sowobi. Angkrish's 120-ball 144 contained 22 boundaries and four sixes. His striking rate was 120.
At the other end, Rajangad Bawa slammed an unbeaten 162. He played an aggressive innings in 108 and reached the fence 14 times besides loafting the Ugandan bowlers over the fence eight times.
Pascal Murungi was Uganda's most successful bowler (10-0-72-3).
Facing an undaunted task of scoring virtually an impossible task of scoring 406 for dream victory, Uganda were dismissed for just 79 runs in 19.4 overs. Only Pascal Murungi could face the Indian bowlers with some confidence as he scored 34 before he was adjudged leg before wicket to Ninishant Sindhu. Nishant broke the backbone of Uganda by capturing four wickets giving away just 19 runs in 4.4 overs, one of which was maiden.
