SHIMLA: For the awareness of subject Department of Defence
and Strategic Studies, the Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) conducted
regional seminar for the final students in PG enrollment under the
guidance of Chairman Prof. Harish K. Thakur.
Webinar graced by Special Guest Prof. Bikram Rana, Former
OSD-Education and Subject expert, Maj. General (Retd.) Amarjit Singh
hosted by Department. Keynote address by Prof. Rana highlighted the
importance of subject for Himachal Pradesh being sharing international
borders with China and Pakistan for ongoing Geo-politics across the
borders.
He motivated students to get PG enrollment in Defence
Studies for better understanding of subject in demand. Subject expert
and visiting Professor in Panjab University Gen. Amarjit also stressed
on growing global demand in leading think-tanks & Defence institutions
for scholars in Defence and strategic background.
Faculty members in the seminar shared the application
process for enrollment and details of 10 subsidized and 20
non-subsidized seats and related details to the students. In the end
Prof. Harish thakur, thanked guests for joining the virtual webinar
and shared opinion to host offline webinar soon in the department.
Session on Google MEET ended with question and answer
session from participants. The department has raised subject awareness
in 10-districts so far confirmed by faculty.
