BARSAR (HP): Internationally renowned envirovironmentalist and the Chairman National Vriksh Prasadam Fooundation Dr P.C. Sharma took an initiative and mooted a proposal to make Barsar Assembly Segment in district Hamirpur of Himachal Pradesh as a smart constituency. He met with eminent social worker and local MLA Inder Dutt Lakhanpal along with pictorial documentation and some of the glimpses of meetings held by him at every levels in the past.
The Barsar assembly segment has its rich history since bygone era and being blessed with the presence of globally acclaimed Sidh Peeth of Baba Balak Nath which is visited by millions of pilgrims, devotees, tourists, historians, researchers, art and nature connoisseur even from foreign countries. It contains huge heritage of art, culture, architecture, nature, biodiversity, ecology, ancient water bodies, flora and fauna etc besides great religious tourism and heritage potential. However, the area has remained overlooked for want of proper eco developmental and socio-cultural model.
Elaborating the proposal, Dr Sharma states that the smart constituency project would entail specific eco developmental model with holistic approach involving preservation and conservation of natural and socio-cultural entity of the area. The model would also encompass heritage corridor connecting all the ancient temples with the world famous Baba Balak Nath Cave Temple in the segment. The road connectivity, civil, public health, education, medical facilities, street lighting and other basic amenities of the villagers would be the hallmarks of the development model.
The present descendant of the prominent Sidh Peeth Dr PC Sharma has further disclosed that the project of Spritual Forestry Campaign would be executed in all the temples, schools, colleges, panchayat premises and public places of the Badsar Assembly Segment. Under this drive religious plants namely rudraksh, chandan, shammi, vata, kadam, burgad, bael, peepal, neem, bamboo, plaash, harsingar, parijaat etc would be planted in all the public places stated Dr PC Sharma.The Badsar Assembly Segment would be made garbage and plastic free constituency.
Dr PC Sharma has solicited the cooperation and patronage of Government of Himachal Pradesh to realise the importance of smart constituency project of the Badsar area.Mr I D Lakhanpal who himself a renowned social worker and well acquianted with the area as a legislator since more than a decade has appreciated and applauded the novice proposed smart constituency project for Badsar Assembly Segment and assured to carry it forward at the Government level too.
Dr PC Sharma and other prominent constituents of the Badsar Assembly Segment have hailed and felicitated I D Lakhanpal consequent upon his landslide and overwhelming electoral victory in the recently concluded Assembly elections of Himachal Pradesh and recommended his candidature for a bigger role as a Cabinet Minister or alike.
