KAITHAL: ADC C.Jaya Shraddha said that road safety is an issue related to human life, hence all concerned officials should ensure to complete the works related to road safety on priority, so that possible accidents can be prevented. The police department took strict action against those who did not follow traffic rules and issued instructions for challaning. He also instructed officials of NHAI, PWD, MC and Panchayat department to install reflectors on destitute animals.
ADC C.Jaya Shraddha was holding a meeting of officials on the subject of road safety in the auditorium located at Mini Secretariat and giving them necessary guidelines. Addressing the meeting, the ADC said that the department which completes the work on the given points regarding road safety, should ensure to submit its action taken report in a timely manner. All the area officers should provide information about accident prone areas, potholes etc. in the district, so that the problem can be resolved. Road safety work is a continuous process, hence all concerned officers should work with departmental coordination, so that accidents can be prevented from happening. The police department should submit a report after identifying the traffic system and areas where there is a possibility of an accident.
ADC C. Jaya Shraddha said that in the year 2023, there were 299 road accidents in which 154 people died, whereas till the month of May this year, 124 accidents took place in which 61 people died. Talking about challaning, 674 challans were issued by the police department in the month of May, in which a fine of about Rs 12 lakh 87 thousand 800 was imposed. Similarly, 69 challans were issued by the RTA department, in which a fine of Rs 25 lakh 14 thousand 800 was imposed. Under the Safe Vehicle Policy, 550 buses were checked from May 5 to June 21, in which 175 vehicles were found not meeting the rules. A notice was issued to the concerned school regarding this.
A total of 15 agendas were placed in the meeting, 4 were completed and instructions were given to the concerned officials to complete the other 11 on priority basis. Instructions were given to install reflectors on the trees at Sector-18 Chowk. He asked the Municipal Council officials to ensure the removal of hawkers and autos etc. in front of the bus stand gate. Officials of Public Works Department were told that the pothole on Tyontha to Sangrauli road should be filled soon. Instructions were given to install curve sign board on Devban to Songal road.
On this occasion, SDM Brahm Prakash, Satyawan Singh Mann, RTA Girish Chawla, DSP Umed Singh, CMO Renu Chawla and other concerned officers were present.
