Raahgiri Day' back in Gurugram

GURUGRAM: After a long gap, Gurugram is once again ready for 'Raahgiri Day'.
On Saturday, November 7, a 'Raahgiri' programme will be organised on the cycle track at Netaji Subhash Marg from 7 am to 10 am.

During the event, a section of the road will be closed for traffic and will be open to the public for walking, cycling, among other sport activities.
Giving more information about the event, Additional Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG)
Jaspreet Kaur said that the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is registered with the Street for People Challenge and India Cycle for Change Challenge.

Under this initiative, citizens are encouraged to walk the streets of their areas, cycling and use their roads socially.

"This challenge also motivates the city to convert these temporary interventions into permanent infrastructure. Gurugram is committed to working with its citizens to ensure this change and community participation is the major success of its initiative, " she said.

She informed that Raahgiri Day is being organised on November 7 for the Open Streets campaign as part of the ministry's challenge with the MCG, state government, civic groups and civil society partners.

"The program will be organised on a dedicated cycle track on Netaji Subhash Marg from 7 am. During the programme Yoga, aerobics, zumba, CrossFit, cycling, street games, skating, street plays, drawing and painting competition, simple arts, dance groups, music bands, cultural presentations, street exercises, sports and road safety awareness-related activities will take place, " she added.
