KAITHAL: The District Bar Association has decided to boycott all the revenue courts in protest against the alleged misbehavior with the lawyers by the Deputy Commissioner, Tehsildar and Naib Tehsildar on the issue of using Of closed canteen in the litigation hall of local judicial complex.

Giving information about this, District Bar Association President Baljinder Singh Malik said that the canteen built in the bar premises had been lying closed for a long time, in which dirt has spread and birds have made their nests. Regarding this, the executive of the District Bar Association and other lawyers went to DC Prashant Panwar and said that we want to use the canteen hall because there is less space for lawyers to sit there. The lawyers also said that if they wish, they can take an affidavit that they will vacate the canteen hall whenever they wish.

President told that the DC verbally agreed to this and the association got the canteen thoroughly cleaned and made arrangements for the lawyers to sit there. After this, on April 9, suddenly the Tehsildar and Naib Tehsildar came there along with the police force and locked the canteen and left. When Association Secretary Gaurav Wadhwa told them not to lock the canteen and wait for the head to arrive, we will sit and talk, then both the officers allegedly misbehaved with the secretary. According to President, after this, when the lawyers' delegation along with the executive members went to meet the DC, he clearly denied this and said that he had not given the canteen to the lawyers to use. President alleged that DC did not treat them well. Although he was making arrangements to sit in the canteen after taking permission from the DC, today the DC went back on his word. After this the lawyers held a meeting and decided to boycott the courts of DC, SDM, Tehsildar and Naib Tehsildar. Talking to the media here today President said that no lawyer will go to their courts. If any lawyer goes to their court he will be fined Rs 11000. It is alleged that due to boycott of revenue courts, the DC dismissed the pending cases in the absence of lawyers. Malik said that this is the dictatorial attitude of the DC about which he will complain to the state Governor, Chief Minister and Chief Secretary.
