The government is privatising the entire power sector in the name of competition. He cited the example of the United Kingdom where Marget Thacher introduced privatisation of power distribution and introduced 70 licences in 1998 and by year 2021 the move has completely failed, The government is now supplying power to consumers as the last resort.

The costliest power in India is in Mumbai where Tata and Adani offer power to consumers in the name of the competition.

V K Gupta spokesperson AIPEF informed that Lok Sabha has referred Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2022 to the Standing Committee on Energy .On Friday, the committee has sought suggestions from all the stakeholders within 15days.The period is too short and inadequate to study and discuss the implications of bill with various stakeholders. The minimum period should be extended upto three month.
