BJP gets big jolt in Haryana Panchayat polls, lost all seats in Panchkula and Sirsa

CHANDIGARH: BJP has faced humiliating defeat in Haryana Panchayat polls as people have rejected the BJP in most of the districts and BJP failed to win even a single seat in Panchkula and Sirsa districts.

The impact of Haryana Panchayat poll results is expected to dent BJP image in Delhi MCD elections and Gujarat assembly elections.

BJP cxould win only 22 out of 102 zila Parishad seats it contested on party symbol in Haryana. The defeat of BJP in Panchayat elections is the gain of AAP and INLD both winning 14 seats each in Zila Parishad polls.

Panchkula is high stake district from where Vidhan Sabha speaker Gian chand Gupta is sitting MLA. BJP contested on 10 Zila Parishad seats on its symbol in Panchkula and it was defeated on all seats.

BJP lost on all 24 seats in Sirsa where dera Sacha Sauda is located. BJP govt had granted parol to jailed dera chief Gurmeet Ram Raheem to influence dera voters in Sirsa district but it failed to work.AAP secured three seats in Sirsa.

BJP also got major set back in Amabala where it won only seats out of 15 seats. Ambala is home constituency of Haryana home minister Anil Viz. The sole set in Ambala cantonement went to AAP. BJP's district vice president Mandeep Rana lost his seat to AAP.

On many sets kin of BJP leaders lost the elections. Suman Saini wife of Kurukshetra MP Naib Singh Saini lost the elections and ranked at fourth place. BJP won only three seats out of 15 seats it contested on symbol.

In Yamunanagar, the home district of education minister Kanwar pal BJP won only six out of 18 seats. In Gurugram BJP won only 4 out of ten seats.

The elected members will elect 22 Zila Parishad chiefs. Haryana has 143 Panchayat samitis comprising 3081 members.
