No disruption will be allowed in medical services and staff salaries at Miri-Piri Medical Institute - Advocate Dhami
AMBALA: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami today reached Miri-Piri Medical Institute, Shahbad Markanda and assured the trust members, hospital staff and people of the area that till the final decision of the court case regarding the hospital is taken, the Shiromani Committee will not back down from its responsibilities and all the medical facilities being provided to the patients, including the salaries of the staff, will be continued uninterrupted.
He said that a separate trust has been formed by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee to run the Miri-Piri Medical Institute and this trust is headed by the President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.
He said that this hospital, which came into existence in the year 2006, is today providing health services to the people of Haryana and surrounding areas.
He said that it is a matter of happiness that apart from the OPD of the hospital, a large number of people are taking advantage of the Cath Lab, Knee and other medical services and especially the Cath Lab, which was started three years ago, is running very successfully.
He clarified that there is no discrimination on the basis of caste, religion or any other type in the hospitals and educational institutions affiliated with the Shiromani Committee and the basic objective of the organization is to provide medical assistance to every person as per their needs, in the spirit of the common good.
He said that till now the Shiromani Committee has provided assistance of about Rs 142 crore to this Miri Piri Medical Institute. Apart from this, a provision of about Rs 8 crore is made in the budget every year and in the past, a trust of about Rs 25 crore has been given to this institution from Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib. He said that the Shiromani Committee also aims to develop the hospital as a medical college in the future, for which the necessary infrastructure has been prepared.
Advocate Dhami said that the SGPC has always respected the decisions of the courts and in this matter too, action is being taken as per the legal process. He said that after the decision of May 12, the SGPC had filed an LPA as per the legal authority, which was heard by a double bench of the Hon'ble High Court and the action regarding the newly formed Medical Board has been stayed.
He said that therefore the matter is now under consideration in the court. He stressed that the issue here is not about any kind of encroachment, but about providing medical services to the people and fulfilling the duties of the institution.
He said that the SGPC has released Rs 1 crore 40 lakh for the salaries of the hospital staff and the remaining salaries will also be released. He said that some doctors and other staff members had left the hospital in the past, they are being contacted and appealed to return.
He said that till the final decision of the court is taken, the SGPC will fully discharge its previous duties. Our efforts are to ensure that the administration of the hospital runs smoothly, the staff gets their salaries on time and the people of Haryana continue to get medical facilities as before.
Advocate Dhami said that his visit today is not for any kind of occupation, but to assure the hospital staff, patients and the people of Haryana that until the final decision of the court case is made, no hindrance will be allowed in the medical facilities being provided to the people and the rights of the staff.
