When Gurdaspur DC Mohammad Ishfaq himself started direct sowing of paddy with Lucky Seed Drill

GURDASPUR: Deputy Commissioner Gurdaspur Mohammad Ishfaq reached village Kot Budha of Kahunwan block at around 7 in the morning and started direct sowing of paddy with Lucky Seed Drill by himself using tractor for direct sowing of paddy.

It may be recalled that the Punjab government had announced direct sowing of paddy in the state from May 20. On this occasion the farmers of the village appreciated the efforts being made by the Deputy Commissioner to visit different villages of the district for direct sowing of paddy and gave a positive response to direct sowing of paddy himself. Addressing the villagers at Gurdwara Sahib of village Koch Budha after the introduction of direct sowing of paddy in the fields of farmer Avtar Singh son of Bawa Singh, the Deputy Commissioner said that They have come to raise awareness about cultivation and eradication of drugs and they have planned to visit at least one village in all the blocks of the district and meet the villagers especially the farmers.

The Deputy Commissioner further said that the farmers in the villages were being imparted information on direct sowing of paddy and new farming techniques and instructed the officials of the Agriculture Department to prepare master trainers for direct sowing of paddy in the villages.
