Villager booked for attacking policeman

NAKODAR: The Nakodar city police have booked a villager on the charge of attacking a policeman.The Station house officer (SHO) Jatindar Kumar said that the accused has been identified as Rannjit Singh alias a resident of Ball Nau village.

Constable Davindar Pal said in his statement that he was on duty with a police team and when they reached Vishv Karma temple and found traffic jam near Ambedkar Chowk and all police men tried to control traffic and regulate it. He said there was a car wrongly parked on road and when he inquired the accused assaulted and tore his uniform and obstructed him from discharging his public functions.

SHO said that a case under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 353(criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty). 186(obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) and 332(voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) of the IPC has been registered against the accused and further investigations are on.
