Villager booked for attacking police constable

SHAHKOT:The Shahkot police have booked a village on the charge of attacking on-duty police constable.
The investigating officer (IO) Balwindar Singh said that the accused has been identified as Julias Frasis a a resident of Said Pur Jhirri village.

Constable Rannjit Singh, belt number 1804, posted at Shahkot police station, said in his statement to the police that he received a phone call from home guards jawan Mukhtiar Singh on October 25 that the accused was assaulting his father.

He said that he along with head constable Kuldip Singh was going to house of the accused when he and his father met them in the way and the accused stated using filthy language and assaulted and tore his uniform and insulted him and thus disrupted his duty.

IO said that a case under sections 186(Obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) and 353(Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty.) of the IPC has been registered against the accused.
