Update of Aadhaar is must for those who prepared it before 2015, says ADC Gurpreet Thind

PATIALA: Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Gurpreet Singh Thind appealed to the residents to keep their Aadhaar information updated. ADC Thind informed that Government has initiated an exercise to strengthen citizen's Aadhaar by updating latest Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA) documents.

While chairing the review meeting ADC Gurpreet Singh Thind said that residents who have enrolled for Aadhaar prior to 2015 need to get document updated in Aadhaar. Residents to update their Aadhaar by uploading supportive documents ie latest Proof of Identity (POI) /Proof of Address (POA) documents at nearest Aadhaar center.

He said that residents need to revalidate their information by submitting required documents, even though there is no change in their demographic data. If mobile number is registered in Aadhaar, resident can avail this service on-line by logging in at https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/, he added.

ADC observed that Aadhaar has emerged as most widely accepted proof of Identity with provision to identify a resident with biometric authentication and is being used to avail numerous government services/benefits.

While reviewing the status of Aadhaar in the Patiala district through video conferencing with the District Level Aadhaar Monitoring Committee (DLAMC), Ms Bhawna Garg, IAS, DDG UIDAI urged residents to enroll children for Aadhaar and keep their Aadhaar updated including mobile in Aadhaar.

She also emphasized the need to verify the Aadhaar, before accepting it as a proof of identity as it would help in identifying fake/ photoshopped Aadhaar cards.

Sanjeev Mahajan, Director UIDAI, DFSC Ravinder Kaur and ACFA Rakesh Garg along with other senior officers from Police, Health, Education, WCD, DoP and Banks in the district were present in the meeting.
