Travel agent booked for duping Goraya village woman of Rs1.35

NURMAHAL: The Nurmahal police have booked a travel agent for duping a Goraya village resident woman of Rs.1.35 on the pretext of sending her abroad.The station house officer (SHO) Gurindar Jit Singh said that the accused has been identified as Lakhwindar Singh alias Lachhmann alias Lashkar Ram a resident of Natt village.

SHO said that Manjit Kaur a resident of Mahal village under Goraya police station complained to Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police that she paid Rs 1.35 lakhs to the accused for facilitating her migration abroad but the accused did not send here abroad and not returned the money.

SHO said that a case under sections 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 13 of the Punjab Travel Professional Act have been registered against the accused after an inquiry adding that Nakodar Deputy Superintendent of Police N.S Mahal is investigating further .
