PHAGWARA: Taking swift action against the open violation of Complete Ban on Tractor-Tochan Race, Rooster-Hen Fights and Dogs Race after a tragic mishap during an illegal Tractor-Tochan Race held at Village Dameli near Phagwara on Saturday Evening, D.I.G. Jalandhar Range Harmanbir Singh Gill warned the violators to follow the rules otherwise be ready to face the music.
Addressing a Press Conference in the presence of SSP Kapurthala Vatsala Gupta at Phagwara On Sunday Afternoon, Gill said that three villagers identified as Jaspal, Bachitra and Bittu have been arrested under section 308, 279, 337, 338, 188, 336 IPC on the charges of openly violating ban orders and organizing Tractor Race even after the denial of permission by the Phagwara Police.
DIG Gill said the police have impounded three tractors misused in Tractor Race.
SSP Gupta said that total eleven persons were booked for the violation while eight others including Buta and Shama were still absconded. The Police are searching for these absconding accused.
It may be mentioned here that six villagers including three children sustained serious injuries when a tractor faced technical error and tractor driver Jaspal lost his control from the tractor which hit the villagers badly.
Meanwhile D. I. G. Gill said that the police are accelerating its fight against drugs at war level to curb the menace.
