AMRITSAR: Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib and Acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib said that today the need of the hour is for every Sikh to keep weapons with him, which is the order of our Guru.

While addressing the religious congregation which was held at Akal Takht sahib on the occasion of gurta gaddi diwas of Sri Guru Hargobind sahib here today, he said that the orders given to the Sangat by the sixth Guru Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji when he was enthroned as Guru, are still applicable today and the supremacy of Sri Akal Takht Sahib remains the same even today.

The Jathedar Sahib emphasized the need for the entire Sikh community to unite under one Nishan Sahib.

He said that today the need of the hour is for every Sikh to keep weapons with him, which is the order of our Guru.

Gurugaddi Diwas of the sixth Guru, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Sri Akal Takht Sahib here today.

The jaloo ( an exhibition of ancient traditional Sikh jewellery decorated at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Gurdwara Baba Atal Rai Sahib.

A large number of devotees paid homage to the Guru by paying obeisance at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib and Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

In connection with the Gurgaddi Diwas of the sixth Guru, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib, the Bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib was held at Sri Akal Takht Sahib, after which the Hazuri Raagi Jatha of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib performed Gurbani Kirtan. Bhai Prem Singh performed the Ardas and the Hukamnama was read to the Sangat by Giani Amarjit Singh, Additional Head Granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib. He also discussed with the Sangat about the life history of Guru Sahib. He said that the sixth Guru Ji instilled the spirit of fighting against oppression among the Sikhs by wearing the kirpans of Miri Piri.

He said that when Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, the owner of Miri Piri, was released from the fort of Gwalior, he also got 52 kings released from prison.

On the occasion of Guru Sahib’s Guru Purab, Jathedar Gargajj prayed for the release of the Sikhs who have been in jail for a long time and appealed to the entire nation that every Sikh should contribute more and more in the efforts being made by the Shiromani Committee, the representative body of the Sikhs, for the release of the imprisoned Sikhs.

He congratulated the Sangat on the occasion of Guruta Gaddi Diwas of Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji and appealed to them to gather under the patronage of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and follow the teachings of Guru Sahib.

On this occasion, the Chief Granthi of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Malkit Singh, member of Dharam Prachar Committee Bhai Ajaib Singh Abhishek, son of Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale Bhai Ishar Singh, Secretary of Shiromani Committee S. Pratap Singh, Additional Secretary S. Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, S. Bijay Singh, S. Tejinder Singh Padda, S. Preetpal Singh, Manager of Sri Darbar Sahib S. Bhagwant Singh Dhangera, Deputy Secretary Prof. Sukhdev Singh, S. Harbhajan Singh Wakta, S. Sukhbir Singh, Superintendent S. Nishan Singh, S. Malkit Singh Beharwal, Manager S. Rajinder Singh Ruby, Additional Manager S. Jaspal Singh Dhadde, S. Bikramjit Singh Jhangi, S. Gurvinder Singh Devidaspur, S. Nishan Singh Jafarwal and a large number of devotees were present.
