The need for collective action to save the environment - Deputy Commissioner. Sidhu

GURDASPUR: If we are not aware of the need to take care of the environment today, future generations will be cursing us and today we need to work together to keep the environment clean and tidy. This was disclosed by Deputy Commissioner. Guralwaleen Singh Sidhu launched the 'Mission Healthy Punjab' campaign in the district during the district level function.

He said that today on the occasion of World Environment Day the Punjab Government has launched a grand and unique initiative under the 'Mission Healthy Punjab' campaign under which meaningful efforts would be made to provide clean environment to the people as well as make Punjab healthier.

Deputy Commissioner Sidhu said that in today's function, Cabinet Minister. Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa was supposed to attend but suddenly he could not reach here due to some work at the Chief Minister's Office.

Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Chairman Gurmeet Singh Pahra, Ranbir Singh Moodhal Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) -cum-Nodal Officer, Secretary Singh Bal SDM Gurdaspur, Vijay Sial SDM Dera Baba Nanak, Raman Kochhar Assistant Commissioner. Intellectuals, professors, students, departmental officers etc. were present.

Bajwa appealed to the people of the district by telephone to come forward for keeping the environment clean and for this purpose the state government has launched 'Mission Healthy Punjab'.

He said that it was necessary to recognize the time and take care of the environment. He said that Punjab government was launching a campaign from June 1 to keep the environment clean, under which various departments were creating awareness among the people.
