The 100-year centenary celebrations of the Jaito Morcha began as per cult traditions

JAITO: The 100-year centenary celebrations of the Jaito Morcha launched by the Sikh community against the tyranny of the then British government began today at Gurdwara Sri Tibbi Sahib here according to panthic traditions.


On the occasion of the commencement of these events, the entire town was decorated from Gurdwara Sri Tibbi Sahib to Gurdwara Angitha Sahib. Before this, Sri Akhand Path Sahib was also initiated.

On the occasion of the commencement of Nagar Kirtan (Martyrdom March), Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami while addressing the congregation recalled the history of Jaito Morcha and also talked about the challenges facing the Sikh community at present.

Advocate Dhami said that great sacrifices were made to guard the truth within the Sikh community.

He said that the foundation of martyrdom within the nation was laid by the Gurus themselves, whose chain was maintained by the Sikhs. Jaito's Morcha represents history in the same way. This front was the trumpet of a struggle against repression, oppression and injustice, which challenged the tyranny of oppressive regimes. Out of this, the Sikh community came out victorious, which is recorded in golden letters in history.
He said that this history of the Sikh community is a source of inspiration for the devotees and especially the youth. Shiromani Committee President said that even at present, Sikhism is facing various challenges in hidden form, which need to be recognized and faced with unity.

He said that the strengthening of Sikh institutions is very important for the nation today, for which the entire nation should contribute.

Meanwhile, the Nagar Kirtan passed through different stages and was completed at Gurdwara Sri Angitha Sahib. Nagar Kirtan was well received by the congregation and respect was given to Sri Guru Granth Sahib by offering handkerchiefs.

Sangat also gave siropaos to Panj Pyare Sahibs and Nishanchi Singhs at different stages.
Nagar Kirtan was participated by Nihang Singh Dal with camels and horses. Various historical tableaus related to the Jaito Morche also became the center of attraction for the Sangat.

These included a specially prepared tableau of Nabha Jail. Students of schools/colleges also took part in Nagar Kirtan in large numbers and gatka parties showcased the jewels of Sikh jangju art.

Manjit Singh Talwandi, Mr. Sukhbir Singh, Mr. Harbhajan Singh Wakta, Baba Sarwan Singh Majhail, Baba Baldev Singh Wallah, Baba Satnam Singh Khaparkhedi, Baba Satpal Singh, Baba Balbir Singh Hara Wale, from Budha Dal. Davinder Singh Dhami, Baba Harbhajan Singh Ludhiana, Baba Raghbir Singh, Manager S. Sukhraj Singh, Mr. Sumer Singh, S. Resham Singh, S. Jarnail Singh, In-charge Gurdeep Singh, Mr. Kartar Singh, S. Lakhwinder Singh, Bibi Manjit Kaur, Dr. Amarjit Kaur, Head Pracharak Bhai Sarabjit Singh Dhoti, along with a large number of prominent personalities and Sangat were present.
