Strict Action to Be Taken Against Food Adulterators: Dr. Harjot Pal Singh

PHAGWARA: Acting on the directions of Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh and under the supervision of the Civil Surgeon, Kapurthala, the Food Safety Wing of Kapurthala carried out an extensive inspection drive across Phagwara city and various rural areas of the district. The inspection team, led by Dr. Harjot Pal Singh, Assistant Commissioner (Food), and Mrs. Mahik Saini, Food Safety Officer, visited several prominent sweet shops to ensure compliance with food safety standards ahead of the festive season.

During the inspection, shop owners were strictly instructed to use only approved edible colors in sweets and to refrain from using any artificial colors in chutneys. The team also emphasized that sweets should be properly covered and stored hygienically. Moreover, shopkeepers claiming to prepare sweets in desi ghee were directed to ensure that only pure clarified butter is used in the preparation.

Dr. Harjot Pal Singh stated that the Food Safety Wing will continue its inspection campaign to curb food adulteration and ensure that only safe and quality food items reach consumers. He affirmed that strict punitive measures will be taken against anyone found guilty of adulteration.
