AMRITSAR: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has decided to form an 'International Sikh Advisory Board'. This board will be based on Sikh representatives from different countries, who will try to solve the problems and problems of the Sikhs living abroad and will also support the local Gurdwara Committees for dharam prachar.
This decision has been taken during the meeting of the executive-Committee under the leadership of Shiromani Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami in Teja Singh Samundari Hall within Golden Temple complex here on Monday.
Approval has also been given to open sub-offices of the Shiromani Committee in different countries by executive committee meeting.
SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami informed the media after the meeting that Sikhs are living all over the world and this trend is accelerating. In view of this, the Shiromani Committee will establish an International Sikh Advisory Board for better follow-up of Sikh issues worldwide.
He said that apart from this, the Shiromani Committee will also establish its own offices in different countries, so that direct and easy contact can be established with the Sikh congregation at the local level.
Dhami said that Shiromani Committee will establish Gurdwara Sahib in different countries and make sub-offices in them.
He said that the Shiromani Committee has already started operations in Yuba City, America in the past, which will be promoted rapidly and necessary action will be taken to establish sub-offices in other countries as well.
The Shiromani Committee president said that along with this, the Shiromani Committee will open a sub-office there by building a Gurdwara Sahib in the country's capital Delhi as well.
He said that a Gurdwara Sahib will be built in Delhi in the near future, in which there will also be provision of shelters. He said that the office to be set up at the local level will provide services to adequately convey
Sikh issues to the central government in Delhi.
He said that before this, the Sikh Mission is functioning in Delhi by the Shiromani Committee, which is doing the work of Sikh promotion.
Regarding the other decisions of the Executive Committee, Advocate Dhami said that last year the Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi had announced the celebration of the martyrdom day of the tenth Patshah Ji Sahibzadas 'Veer Bal Divas', but after the objection of the Shiromani Committee. The sub-committee constituted by Sri Akal Takht Sahib has suggested the name 'Sahibzade Shahadat Divas'. Shiromani Committee will send a letter to the Government of India as per the suggestion of the sub-committee and the order of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and ask them to change the name.
During the meeting of the internal committee, where the issues of the Gurdwara Sahibs and various institutions were discussed, it was also decided to give 4 percent dearness allowance to the employees of the Shiromani Committee. On this occasion, Shiromani Committee member Bibi Ranjit Kaur Mahilpur, producer of Nanakshahi Calendar. Condolences were read on the death of Pal Singh Purewal and Hazuri Ragi Bhai Sulkhan Singh and tributes were paid to the departed souls.
Meanwhile, Advocate Dhami termed the attempt to desecrate Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Kathunangal yesterday as unfortunate and demanded strict action from the government against the culprits.
He said that in this matter, the manager of Gurdwara Baba Buddha Sahib Kathunangal has filed an FIR in the local police station, according to which the police administration will take action against the people who are trying to disobey, as well as those who are actually working behind the incident. The culprits should also be brought forward.
