SGPC strongly objects to granting parole to Gurmeet Ram Rahim

AMRITSAR: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami strongly objected to the Haryana government's granting of one month parole to Dera Sirsa chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim and said that the decision was a sign of double standards of the government.

Advocate Dhami said that on one hand the governments were not releasing the Sikh prisoners even after completing their sentences, while on the other hand the Dera Sirsa chief who was serving his sentence on serious charges like rape and murder was repeatedly released from jail.

He said that on the occasion of 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji, the central government had announced the release of Sikh prisoners but due to the malice of the government it was not fulfilled. Governments are not giving any meaningful answer to the issue raised repeatedly by Sikh organizations.

However, the Dera chief who is also directly associated with the descreation of Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Bargari in 2015 and this person is a murderer of the religious sentiments of the Sikhs and the governments have always been kind. He said that it was unfortunate that the BJP government of Haryana and Center was playing a political game together.

Advocate Dhami said that the BJP government at the Center had already given furlough during the elections for the purpose of political gain and now again paroled Ram Rahim for taking advantage during the Sangrur elections, which was totally wrong.

The SGPC President said that the patronage given to Ram Rahim by the governments would never be tolerated by the Sikh sentiments and it would be strongly opposed.
