AMRITSAR: Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, has raised questions about the picture of Bhai Jaita Ji installed by Punjab Government at his memorial at Sri Anandpur Sahib.

He said that in the picture installed in the memorial, showing the shoes of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji while administering Amrit to Bhai Jaita Ji is a violation of Sikh principles, etiquette and Sikh sentiments.

Advocate Dhami said that this memorial, which has been inaugurated by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, will hurt the congregation instead of guiding it.

He said that according to Sikhism, the Amrit Sanskar is a sacred and dignified ritual, in which respect and honor must be shown. But the government has committed a fundamental violation by trying to distort this sacred process through a picture.

The Shiromani Committee President questioned the government's interference in religious matters and said that earlier too the government had violated etiquette during a religious function in Srinagar, and now it has done so again by installing a picture against the principles in the memorial established by Bhai Jaita Ji.

He said that it is a matter of sorrow that the government is employing officials who have no understanding of religious and historical matters, due to which such serious principled violations are taking place. He said that Sikhism is the name of a dignified way of life and its uniqueness lies in its fundamental values and ideals.

He said that the Shiromani Committee has been saying from the beginning that the government should focus on development works related to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji and cooperate in religious events organized by the Shiromani Committee. But the government does not see anything other than politics.

Advocate Dhami insisted that the government should immediately remove this picture from the memorial and apologize to the nation. If the government takes this serious matter lightly, the Shiromani Committee will be forced to take action on it at its own level.
