- Confronts Mann for accusing Congress for spreading hate

AMRITSAR: Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today said that the arrest of a Punjab Police DIG by the CBI on Thursday and recovery of Rs five crore cash from his residence was a tight slap on the face of the Aam Aadmi Party’s claims of providing a corruption free government.

He also confronted the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for accusing the Congress of spreading hatred and dividing people.

Replying to a question during an informal conversation with reporters about the arrest of a DIG from Mohali, Warring said, this reflected badly about the AAP government and blasted its claims of honesty and corruption free government.

He asked as how could it be possible for a DIG to amass huge money without anyone having a whiff about it. He said, the DIG’s arrest and subsequent revelations were just a tip of the iceberg as the entire system of governance under the AAP had turned rotten with corruption.

To another question that Chief Minister Mann bad alleged that he (Warring) was spreading hatred and dividing people, the PCC president retorted, “I have been asking people to vote for those who respect the constitution of BR Ambedkar and not to vote for those who do not respect the constitution… I said, vote for those who respect the tricolour and don’t vote for those who don’t respect the tricolour… i said, don’t vote for those who are demanding votes at the gun point, I said don’t vote for those who are opportunists and communal and don’t vote for those who did not provide flood relief”. He asked, what is hateful or divisive about it?

Warring said that the AAP government had proved to be a complete failure in every aspect whether about state’s economy or law and order or curbing the drugs. He pointed out Dr Ambedkar’s statue had been vandalised and desecrated so many times under the AAP rule. He said, this had not happened even during the period of terrorism in Punjab.

The PCC president asserted that it is the Congress which unites people and the country and has laid down so many sacrifices for protecting and safeguarding the unity and integrity of the nation.

He said, while the AAP was not even born then, the Akalis and the BJP ran away and Congress fought for peace and normalcy in Punjab and paid a heavy price for it. “Congress needs no certificate from anyone about its secular and patriotic credentials”, he asserted.
