School Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla assess ground reality in Patiala prior to reopen schools

PATIALA:Punjab School Education Minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla today reviewed arrangements in two major government schools in Patiala city to assess the ground reality about implementation of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) prior to open up school from October 19 in wake of COVID-19 pandemic. Mr. Singla visited government Co-Ed Multipurpose Senior Secondary School, Passi Road and Government Model Senior Secondary School, Civil Lines and inspected the condition of basic amenities such as toilets, drinking water and disinfection process very closely apart from marking in classrooms to maintain social distancing among children. District Education Officer (S) Harinder Kaur, Principal Tota Singh National Awardee, Principal Varinder Batish, Surinder Singh Bharoor and other teachers were also present during the visit.

Mr. Vijay Inder Singla directed teachers to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the government to contain the spreading of Corona Virus and precautions such as mask, social distancing and wash hand or sanitization is critical to save the children. He said that the teachers would have to become role models for the students during the perilous times after reopening the schools. He said that students will take precautions after seeing their teachers to follow the same.

Mr. Singla said that every student who wants to join classes physically, must have the written consent of their parents. He also informed that authorities have the right to call students in two shifts or alternate days in case of exceeded strength so that the norm of social distancing will be maintained. “We are conducting a massive sanitization campaign in school premises and hope that the campaign will be completed in two days, he added.

The School Education Minister also accorded directions to Safai Sewaks regarding the sanitization process. He also held meetings with staff of both the schools and sought information from the principals about the ongoing development works in schools and deliberated on other requirements.
