PHAGWARA:Sanitation fortnight was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner M.C. Phagwara Rajiv Verma at Phagwara Municipal Corporation today under which special emphasis would be laid on cleanliness in the areas falling under the Municipal Corporation from 1st October to 15th October.
Speaking at a function held at the Municipal Corporation office, Commissioner Verma said that a clean up drive would be carried out in every street of the city during these 15 days. Apart from this, people will also be made aware of the health effects of cleanliness. He said that litter bins were being set up at government offices, main places, intersections etc. in the city and at the same time vehicles were being dispatched to aware the people to keep the city clean and tidy.
All the officers and employees of the Municipal Corporation took an oath to make serious efforts for maintaining cleanliness and also distributed plants to help in conservation of the environment on this ocassion.
