CHANDIGARH: he senior leaders of Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukat) along with the party workers will visit Gurdwara Sahib at Burj Jawahar Singh Wala on June 1, 2021, at 12: 30 pm to offer commemorative Prayers.

Senior leader of the Party and former Deputy Speaker S. Bir Davinder Singh in an official statement issued from the party headquarters today revealed this information.

He said that the decision of visiting Gurdwara Sahib at Burj Jawahar Singh Wala has been taken in the informal meeting of the Party which was held recently, under the Chairmanship of S. Sukhdev Singh Dhidsa MP, President of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukat) and was attended by senior leaders of the Party.

He said that ensuring stringent punishments to those involved in the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is the utmost priority agenda of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukat) besides other burning issues confronting the State of Punjab.

He recalled that it was on June 1, 2015, when a ‘Saroop’ of Holiest of the Holy Guru Granth Sahib went missing from a Gurdwara in Buraj Jawahar Singh Wala village in Faridkot District and later on October 12, 2015, several torn pages of the Guru Granth Sahib were disgraced and were found strewn in the streets of village Bargari, which lead to massive protest across Punjab.

It is atrocious that when the Sikh Sangat showed anger against the dastardly act of sacrilege of their sacred scripture, Guru Granth Sahib, which is the highest religious and spiritual guide for them, but the Punjab police instead of pacifying the enraged feeling of the Sikhs, unleashed brutality and converted the peaceful protest into a deadly violence, resultantly two Sikh protesters were killed on the spot during the police firing, ” said S. Bir Davinder Singh.

It is really sad that S. Parkash Singh Badal was the Chief Minister and his son Sukhbir Singh Badal was the Home Minister of Punjab when these appalling incidents happened in Punjab one after another; but nothing tangible was done either by S. Parkash Singh Badal or his son Sukhbir Singh Badal who was Home Minister during that crucial period. Even the Capt. Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government has done nothing result oriented on the issue, ” said Bir Devinder Singh.

He said that Capt. Amarinder Singh even after taking oath and swearing by the Gutka Sahib has always remained reluctant in the matters of sacrilege and police firing. Unfortunately he always kept his vested political interest on the top of his agenda in the utter disregard of such a super sensitive issue of the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib; he rather preferred to keep things in abeyance indefinitely .

He said that it is profoundly regrettable that even after six years, there is no closure to the issue; neither the then nor the present government has taken any firm action against the perpetrators of the crime, which is why even the courts are moving at the pace which could well be defined as notoriously slow and have not given decision pending with them for almost 6 years amplifying agonies of the anguished Sikh community.

Mr. Bir Davinder Singh said that party President, S. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa has advised all party leaders and workers to reach Grain Market of village Lambwali on June 1, 2021, exactly at 11:00 am to start the journey to Buraj Jawahar Singh Wala.

He said that everyone has to ensure strict adherence of COVID-19 protocols throughout the journey. The Party President S. Sukhdev Singh Dhidsa has called upon all the leaders and volunteers of Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukat) to strictly follow the COVID-19 protocols during the visits and also make individual food and water arrangements.
