Road Kisan Sangharsh Committee' Leaders holds a meeting with District Administration

PATIALA: The leaders of the 'Road Kisan Sangharsh Committee' formed to raise their issues regarding the Delhi-Katra Express Highway led by State President Sukhdev Singh Dhillon met Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit and SSP Vikram Jeet Duggal, today evening.

In the meeting, farmers leaders agreed to change the nature of the massive protest at Yadavindra Chowk in Patiala and give it a symbolic look so that there would be no obstruction to traffic.
During the meeting that was held in a cordial atmosphere, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Kumar Amit assured them to arrange a meeting with the concerned departments and senior officials of the government to resolve the issue of the farmers. The Deputy Commissioner also said that the farmers of the villages fall under Patran sub division and whom land is likely to be acquired for this express way would be given full justice as per the law. He also said that no award has been passed in Patran area so far.
The farmers leaders also agreed to remove the tractors and trolleys parked around the Chief Minister's residence here. The farmers leaders also expressed regret over the ackward situation created during the tractor march on April 30 that led to register an FIR against the farmers. On the demand raised by the farmers to cancel the FIR, SSP Mr Vikramjeet Duggal assured them that it would be considered sympathetically as per the course of law. He said that the police had shown leniency towards the farmers on that day, for which the farmer leaders also praised the Patiala police.
Farmer leaders also assured that no such incident would happen in future which would destabilize the law and order situation but if someone would do so, he would not be supported by the Kisan Sangharsh Committee.
Sukhdev Singh Dhillon and other farmer leaders put all their demands, including doubling the market value of the land, 100 percent demolition allowance, service road, occupation/cultivator based compensation etc. in front of the administration. Both top officials of the district assured to do whatever in their purview besides scheduling their meeting with the government soon. On this, the farmer leaders said that they would lift their dharna from Patiala after fixing their meeting and would extend full cooperation to the administration till then.
On this occasion, S P City Varun Sharma, SDM Charanjit Singh, besides farmer leaders Bikramjit Singh from Ludhiana, Gurdial Singh from Moga, Rajbinder Singh Hundal from Amritsar, Balwinder Singh from Gurdaspur, Daljit Singh, Gurjit Singh, Jagjit Singh Galoli from Patiala district, Kuldeep Singh Tarn Taran, Jagjit Singh Jalandhar and Jagjit Singh Ropar were also present.
